Main Railway Routes in Haryana

Haryana is connected to all parts of India by broad gauge railway line. The main railway station of Haryana is Chandigarh. The major railway stations in Haryana are Ambala Cantonment, Ambala City, Bahadurgarh, Ballabhgarh, Bawal, Bhiwani, Bhiwani City, Faridabad, Gurugram, Hisar, Jagadhri, Jakhal Junction, Karnal, Kurukshetra, Loharu, Mahendragarh, Palwal Sirsa, Sonipat and Kalka. There are the which are as follows:

Delhi - Rewari - Alwar Rail Route

  • This is the oldest rail route in Haryana and passes through Southern part of the state.
  • The first railway line was built in Haryana  between Delhi and Rewari in 1873. This was first meter guage commercial line.
  • This rail route is a part of Jaipur division of North West Railway Zone. The Rewari Junction - Jaipur - Ahmedabad rail line. It is the biggest and oldest railway junction Haryana.
  • At present (2020-21), the Delhi - Rewari rail route works under the Delhi Division of Northern Railway. However, Rewari Junction is still part of the Jaipur division of the North - Western Railway zone.
  • One branch of the Rewari - Bhatinda railway line connects Bhiwani with Rohtak via Kalanaur and another branch Hisar with Jakhal via Barwala. Another rail route from Hisar connects Hisar to Bhiwani via Churu (Rajasthan).
